I am very pleased to offer the support of Arun District Council for this important project.
It will not only offer a safe footpath and cycleway for adults and school pupils between Arundel and Ford Station, on this fast moving major route, but also increase the connectivity between Climping, Ford and Arundel for these user groups.
This will also contribute to greater tourism opportunities between the South Downs National Park and the coast, as well as healthier travel options and outdoor exercise, all of which are part of our Safer and Healthier Arun initiatives. We are already promoting a cycleway along the River Arun, principally for tourism, and these schemes will complement each other.
We hope that efforts to attract funding as part of the Highways England A27 Arundel by-pass scheme, and other developer contributions will assist its delivery. The scheme will of course require West Sussex County Council support as Highway authority, and we will be supportive of that.
