Information from Highways England
Work will be carried out to remove non-compliant signs and replace them with new signs complying with current sign regulations, along the A27 between Emsworth and Drusilla’s Roundabout.
The work will be carried out from Monday 15 February for 9 weeks. To minimise disruption the work will take place Monday to Friday overnight from 8pm to 6am when there are fewer vehicles on the road.
For the safety of the workforce, and road users, there will be a variety of traffic management options used:
- Ring management at roundabouts
- Lane closures with traffic lights
- Side road closure with diversion
- Temporary 2, 3 and 4-way traffic lights
- Full carriageway closures with diversion
- Layby closures
Safe pedestrian access will be provided through works areas.
During the full closures, they will put a diversion route in place suitable for all types of vehicles:
Eastbound Vale Avenue Closure (2 nights): Traffic will continue along the A27 to the roundabout to join the A23 London Road southbound. Leave the A23 to join Old London Road. Take the 2nd left onto Ladies Mile Road, taking the 2nd left into Mackie Avenue. Take the 1st left into Vale Avenue where the diversion ends.
Westbound Exit Slip Closure at Devil’s Dyke (2 nights): Traffic will continue on the A27 to the next junction (Hangleton Interchange) where they can turn around and re-join the A27 eastbound returning to Devil’s Dyke Interchange where the diversion ends.
Full westbound closure between Fitzalan Road and Ford Roundabout, Arundel (2 nights): Traffic will be directed eastbound on the A27 to Crossbush Roundabout to join the A284 southbound to Wick Roundabout. Take the 3rd exit to join the A259 westbound. At Shripney Roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A29 northbound.
Follow the A29 Shripney Road, Lidsey Road, Westergate Street, Nyton Rod, Fontwell Avenue to re-join the A27 at Fontwell West Roundabout where the diversion ends.
Eastbound right-hand turn closure to Copse Lane (2 nights): Traffic will continue on the A27 eastbound to Ford Roundabout, Arundel where they can turn around and re-join the A27 westbound to Copse Lane where the diversion ends.
Westbound closure of access to Arundel Road, Fontwell (2 nights): Traffic will continue westbound on the A27 to Fontwell West Roundabout where they can access Arundel Road and the diversion ends.
Northbound Closure of exit to The Street, Boxgrove (2 nights): Traffic will turn around at Boxgrove Roundabout to join the A27 westbound to leave at the next junction (Temple Bar Interchange) to join the A285 northbound to turn right into The Street where the diversion ends.
Please note that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. They will advertise the closures on yellow signs placed in advance at the junction/alongside the road.
