Arun District Council is reviewing the rules for dogs in public and as a consequence a public consultation was launched on 6 July to seek views on plans to amend and continue the current Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs in open spaces.

ADC is proposing that the current Arun District Council PSPOs for dogs, which expires in October 2020 be extended with minor amendments for a further three years until 2023.  The proposed changes are designed to “fine-tune” the existing PSPO and are based upon feedback and our first-hand experience in managing land and enforcement issues in relation to dog controls.  Failure to comply with the conditions of the PSPO can result in a fine or fixed penalty notice.

The consultation survey will run from midday on 6 July 2020 to 17 August 2020 and should take between 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WTF568M and ADC would welcome your comments.

The existing PSPO can be found on ADC’s Website at https://www.arun.gov.uk/dog-control along with an interactive map showing the extent of the dogs on leads and exclusion areas.
