We have received very good news from the Environment Agency. They have developed a technical solution to the problems they encountered with the river bed at River Road and this has been given approved by the National Project Assurance Board. They have also secured the additional £2m that this technical solution requires. This takes the total investment into Arundel Tidal Flood Defences to £6.7m-equivalent to almost £2,000 for each of our residents.
New materials are required and the Environment Agency have ordered these. They should be able to let us know the revised timetable by the beginning of April. In the meantime the work on Fitzalan Road is now virtually complete, and work on the embankments to the south of the town are on schedule to begin in April.
