The annual Mayor’s Service to give thanks for the community of Arundel was held on Sunday 12 October at Arundel Cathedral.

Cllr Carolyn Kenney, Mayor of Arundel, joined fellow Councillors, the Town Clerk and Macebearer in a procession to the Cathedral led by the joint bands of TS Implacable NTC and Arundel and Littlehampton District Scouts.

There, they were received by Guiding and Scouting members in a Guard of Honour before enjoying the service of Thanksgiving conducted by Fr Stephen Dingley, Canon David Twinley of St Nicholas’ Parish Church and Pastor Jim Braddock, Arundel Baptist Church. Pupils from Arundel Church of England School and St Philip’s Catholic Primary School formed a joint choir to sing beautifully, while young people representing Scouting and Guiding read poems celebrating community and kindness.

A retiring collection raised £300 for the Mayor’s charity this year, My Sisters’ House CIO – a women’s centre working for women in the Arun and Chichester district with the aim to empower women, promote equality, and address challenges such as domestic abuse, poverty, mental health, and employment barriers.
