Join the Mayor and Town Crier at one of two occasions on Thursday 8 May to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
The Town Crier will deliver the Proclamation in the Town Square at 11am, which we are hoping will be followed by the dedication of a bespoke bench that has been commissioned for the Quayside as explained in this article in the Spring/Summer 2025 issue of Arun Times:
The evening beacon lighting in Jubilee Gardens will run from 9.15-9.45pm and will feature wartime music from local musicians to sing along to, the beacon will be lit at 9.30pm accompanied by the reading of the Tribute. The evening will end with the National Anthem and the hymn I Vow to Thee My Country.
