Please see below a message from the Environment Agency in relation to works taking place at Arun Street Gardens tomorrow:

On Thursday 23 April 2020 (tomorrow) construction work will be taking place at Arun Street Gardens (at the downstream extent of the new river wall).

The work will involve a large concrete mixer being driven down Surrey/Tarrant Street (the opposite to normal traffic flow) and then reversing down Arun Street to the Memorial Gardens. From here, concrete will be pumped to form a plug (connection) between the new and existing river walls. The memorial gardens will be closed to the public (for a maximum of 1day) until these activities are complete.

Traffic management measures will be in place during the delivery (including the use of a banksman to manage vehicle movements). It is not expected that residents will need to move parked cars in Arun Street, Tarrant Street or Surrey Street will (unless they are badly parked).

The contractor (Mackley) have already completed a letter drop to inform residents that may be affected by these activities.

We will endeavour to keep the disruption caused to minimum. and thank residents for their continued patience during the construction period.
