Arundel Area

Mill Road Arundel is an excellent base from which to explore England’s beautiful South Downs which is an area full of history just waiting to be discovered.  Visit the ancient yew trees at Kingley Vale, a Norman cathedral at Chichester or the magnificent treasure house of Goodwood and the Goodwood sporting estate.

There are miles of unspoilt countryside including the rare chalk grasslands that are full of wildflowers and butterflies. The nature reserves of Lancing Ring and Mill Hill are home to a range of wildlife including wildflowers like orchids, speedwell and musk thistle and rare butterflies like the adonis blue and birds such as the kestrels and sky larks.

Chanctonbury Ring is located near Steyning and comprises a clump of trees planted on the remains of an Iron Age fort. Further south is Cissbury Ring, another Iron Age hill fort with stunning views across the downs to the coast.

The historic market town of Steyning, boasts many medieval and Tudor buildings, while the pretty
villages of Findon, Bramber and Washington are definitely worth exploring. Other attractive villages include peaceful Burpham, Felpham (once home of poet William Blake) and picturesque Slindon, with the National Trust-owned Slindon Estate nearby. Black Rabbit Arundel
